FAQ
What do you supply? Do we need to provide anything?
I’m fairly self-sufficient. Really I just need access to power, and if I’m outdoors some shade in summer is always nice! In terms of equipment, I can have up to three setups on the same day i.e. if I’m playing at your wedding I’ll have a PA setup for your ceremony, canapés, and reception separately, to ensure there’s minimal fussing about between locations.
Do you travel outside of Canberra?
If it’s within around 1-1.5 hours drive, then yes I do. Any further and I’m only available for daytime performances and need to be finished up by around 8pm (or my car turns back into a pumpkin). This does preclude me from offering my full day wedding packages for out of town weddings, however I’m still happy to perform at your ceremony, canapés, and part reception if you can find a separate DJ or band to see out the rest of the night.
Do you DJ as well?
Once upon a time yes, but fortunately for everyone I now work with the fantastic folks at Boombox2u for all my weddings and functions. The transition is seamless as everything is setup by me beforehand, so as soon as you need the dance floor to light up, they’ll be ready.
Do we need to choose songs for you?
In general, no, I’m most happy reading the room and adjusting style, tempo, and energy depending on what the crowd is doing. So don’t worry - if everyone is sitting and enjoying a chat I won’t suddenly burst into The Horses at full volume. But if everyone is itching to get on the dance floor, I’m there for that too! Just ask and I can send you a song list though, and you can choose any songs you want (or don’t want) to hear.
Can you learn songs for us?
Absolutely. Always happy to learn a song or two, and if it’s for your wedding I’ll happily learn 3-5 songs to cover your ceremony and first dances.
What happens if you’re sick?
Fortunately I very rarely am so unwell that I can’t perform. However if it does come to it, I’ll do everything I can to find a replacement musician that I trust for you, and failing that, my DJ’s ought to be able to cover the whole day if needed. In other words, I won’t leave you in the lurch without music.
